ICAI's AI moment, in numbers
Ask any AI assistant, 'which of my clients have a notice due this week and no reply drafted?' It cannot answer if the notices live in a partner's inbox, the drafts live on a junior's desktop and the client list lives in an Excel file last updated in April. The intelligence is there. The data isn't.
That is the quiet lesson of the profession's AI push. Training gives CAs the skill to use AI. Tools give them the interface. But the value comes from the firm's own data — clients, work, deadlines, notices, documents, conversations — being structured, current and connected.
“AI doesn't fix a messy practice. It amplifies whichever practice you already run.”
| Habit | Why AI needs it | Where it lives in the Vider ecosystem |
| One client master | Every question starts with 'which client?' | ATOM client 360° |
| Work as tasks, with status | Turns 'what's pending?' into a query | ATOM task management |
| Notices synced, not forwarded | Deadlines and risk become visible | ATOM Pro portal sync |
| Conversations on firm channels | Context attached to the client, not a phone | Vider Connect |
| Documents filed to the client | Drafting and review need the source papers | ATOM document storage; Quantum for drafting |
The fastest way to undo the benefits of AI in a CA firm is to paste client data into a public chatbot. A CA's confidentiality duty, and from May 2027 DPDP's security safeguards, both point the same way: client data should stay inside systems the firm controls, with access limited to the people who need it. The useful question for any AI tool is not 'how clever is it?' but 'where does my client's data go?'
We wrote more about this in Your Client Data. Locked Down. Completely.
By day 30 the firm has the structured data that makes any AI tool — today's or the ones ICAI's members will build next — actually useful.
How many chartered accountants has ICAI trained in AI?
At its AI Innovation Summit 2026 in New Delhi, ICAI reported that more than 50,000 chartered accountants had completed AI training and more than 150 GPT-based professional tools had been developed.
What did ICAI sign with Sarvam AI?
On 26 June 2026, at the AI Innovation Summit at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, ICAI signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sarvam AI to promote AI awareness and digital upskilling among chartered accountants.
Will AI be part of the CA curriculum?
ICAI's President said in May 2026 that AI and data analytics will be embedded in the curriculum. A Committee for Review of Education and Training is reviewing the syllabus, with updates expected to be implemented from 2028.
What does a CA firm need before AI tools can help?
Structured, connected data: one client master, work recorded as tasks with status, notices synced from the portals, communication logged on firm channels, and documents filed against the right client. AI tools reason over what they can see; scattered spreadsheets and personal chats give them nothing reliable.
Is it safe to paste client data into public AI chatbots?
It carries confidentiality risk. Client financial data in a public tool leaves the firm's control, which conflicts with a CA's confidentiality duty and with DPDP safeguards. Prefer tools that keep data inside the firm's own systems and access controls.
